Mended Little Hearts of Central Virginia will host their 5th annual Golf Tournament on August 9, 2010. The proceeds received from this tournament will allow Mended Little Hearts to provide care packages, support groups meetings and social events to families in Central Virginia who have children with Heart Defects (CHD).
There is no known cause for heart defects in children. There is the assumption that these defects are genetic, but few genes have been linked to heart defects. 1 out of every 100 infants born will have a congenital heart defect, leading to approximately 40,000 new heart babies every year, claiming twice as many children's lives than all forms of childhood cancer combined. Children diagnosed with a heart defect can have astonishing needs, ranging from invasive procedures such as open-heart surgery to daily therapies for breathing and physical rehabilitation.
The tournament is Captain’s choice, with a shotgun start, and will take place on Monday, Aug 9th at the Stonehenge Country Club in Midlothian, commencing at 1pm. Registration begins at 12pm and is $100 per player or $400 per foursome, and includes lunch, dinner, beverages, range fees and cart. A silent auction will take place during dinner and awards.
